Poems in Sheila-Na-Gig & The Wave

Here are links to two poems published during the year that I forgot to post when they were published:

The first, Imagination,

appeared in

Sheila-Na-Gig

in June (2025).

It is from the manuscript

Rubble/Anti-Rubble.

Here’s the beginning:

Imagination

Imagination: The ability to form mental images of things that are not present to the senses

or not considered to be real.

1.

She doesn’t look into his eyes,

                                focuses

                on his cardboard sign:

“Iraq Veteran – Homeless –

      Please Help.”

“I’m so sorry,” she says, gives

him a dollar. “I can’t imagine

       what you’ve been through.”

I imagine she is confused,

           maybe sad, as she moves

across the parking lot, so many

on the streets, no one to help,

     what else can she do…

The rest of the poem can be found here.

A poem from

The Next World

appeared in

The Wave

(the online issue of Kelp Journal)

 in March (2025).

You can find it here.

Here’s the opening:

Sounding: how the world was made

Sea lions sound the cave walls, sound the waves beating against

the cave entrance, sound the fissures and holes the waves make,

shaped like Silurian fish heads and predator worms….

 You can find it here.
